Meaning of play

what patterns in behavior suggest for adaptation of educational and therapeutic practice

J. J. Gleason

pp. 257-263

Abstract

This paper presents one example of play between two individuals with profound and multiple developmental disabilities to illustrate the evolution of shared, learned, patterns in their interactions. The patterns developed prior to the introduction of educational and therapeutic practices in this setting. The example is selected from a 5 year anthropological study of the life experience of 64 persons in a residential school.
