pp. 209-223

Abstract

The paper reclaims phenomenology and phenomenological method in an attempt to debunk the current predicament into which education and educational research have lapsed. A crisis, or a predicament, transforms itself into sheer disaster, if education continues to be pursued in the absence of subjectivity and subjective experience, with no focus upon critical reflection, capable judgment and informed citizenship. It is imperative to re-think the role, the significance and the potential of education and educational research together with the priorities of modern culture. This cannot be achieved unless we bring back to the center of our educational concerns the presence of mindful subjectivities andre-introduce the legitimacy of "the subjective" in educational methodology and research.
