The theory of structuration
a critique
pp. 18-27
Abstract
My task as critical discussant is complicated by the circumstance that I am strongly impressed by Giddens's general approach. Being sympathetic to many of his arguments, I cannot generate drama by launching a broad-scale offensive against his views. To be sure, there are disagreements between us (as I shall try to indicate); but these disagreements have the character more of a domestic skirmish than of a battle between opposed camps.
