Storage and communication of knowledge

Joseph Agassi

pp. 132-141

Abstract

Due to current myths and to publication pressure, science is often pictured as a reservoir of knowledge, where all published material is accumulated and processed. This picture is sheer myth. Scientific literature is chiefly a means of communication, not a reservoir but a channel-system; and the channels are now clogged.
