God in the Summa theologiae

entity or event?

Fergus Kerr

pp. 63-79

Abstract

Whatever they say about "classical" theism, the "traditional" Christian doctrine of God, as hopelessly contaminated by 'substantialist metaphysics", I want to offer a quick re-reading which suggests that the risk Thomas Aquinas runs is not thinking of God as a static entity but rather of God as a radically dynamic event.
