Conclusion

yes and no

Peter S. Dillard

pp. 167-172

Abstract

After summarizing the results of the entire book, Dillard briefly considers a paradoxical implication of human deification drawn at the end of the previous chapter. Specifically, a human being who becomes God in the endless Gelassenheit both is and is not the same person she was during her earthly life. Dillard suggests that coming to terms with this contradiction may require leaving Gelassenheit theology behind and developing a viable Streit theology within the same overarching Heideggerian framework that has been set forth in the book.
