Abstract
Nietzsche predicts that he will be asked, "What are you really doing, erecting an ideal or knocking one down?" Here he anticipates the most common charge made against him and his followers. "When you have cleared the work of these false ideals, nothing will be left. You can only destroy and never affirm. You are irresponsible in a destructive way (and hence must be ignored, accused, punished for your adventurism). Nietzsche responds with a counter-charge:
