Toward a political economy of education in the transitional period

Geraldine ThorpePat Brady

pp. 35-56

Abstract

The argument in this chapter is that recent changes in education can be understood in the context of transition, where capitalism is in decline and competing with the burgeoning movements of the potential future society. We cannot explain the context by describing how it appears to us. We have to find out what lies beneath the surface, what underlying movements and forces are shaping and changing our world. It is a matter of explanation.
