The national research centers and their role on the technology transfer and science policy of Greece

Abstract
Science and technology are perceived as a key resource both for competitiveness and the long-term growth of national economics. Mastering new technologies is seen as a prerequisite for economic development. Increasingly research and technology generation and its further diffusion into the whole of the economic fabric are becoming higher priorities for governments world-wide. Developing or acquiring technology and implementing it successfully in industry are the stated aims of the corresponding policies in many countries.
