Creative adjustment in madness
a Gestalt therapy model for seriously disturbed patients
pp. 261-277
Abstract
The lamented increase in serious disturbances in our society has become a stimulus to improve the language of psychotherapy. Today, the treatment of seriously disturbed patients constitutes a challenge for all psychotherapies: We all know that if psychotherapy is to fulfill its function, it must be based on a theory of psychological maturity which is, of course, in debt to the social, historical-cultural, sometimes even political context, in which it happens to arise and operate" (Spagnuolo Lobb et al., 1996, p. 45). There has been an evolution in psychological disturbances in these last decades; certainly there has been a series of changes since Gestalt therapy was founded.
